Listening to KPIG on an iPad or iPhone

You can hear the Pig on an iPad or iPhone! Or on a Mac!

But, you have to be a subscriber (hey, it helps support the Pig!) Sign-up information is at https://www.kpig.com/forms/signup.

• iPhone / iPad / iPod

  To setup an iPad/iPhone ... login at the Pig once to find your "token":

  You can find your subscriber token by looking near the bottom of www.kpig.com/listen after you've logged on, in the "Direct Stream" section.
  It's the 36 (or so) characters after "token=" on the mms:, http, and rtsp links.

  As the web page says: "Please note - this is your personalized link, directly tied to your subscriber account."!

  On the iPhone or iPad, install one of these streaming radio apps:

  • FSTREAM app (free):
    

    Tap on "favorites", then "edit", then "+ add new webradio".

    Enter: KPIG
    and: mms://mapleton.securewmlive.internapcdn.net/live_secure_mapleton_vitalstream_com_KPIGFM2?token=<your_secret_token>

    Note: the above won't work without editing ... you need to have your subscriber token there :)
    You can find your tailored URL by logging in to KPIG at www.kpig.com, going to the player window, and looking near the bottom.

    Tap on "Done"

    Tap on "Play" (lower-left corner)

    Tap on KPIG!

  • WunderRadio ($6.99):
    

    Enter the KPIG "mms:" URL (see FSTREAM comments above) into the text field in the top-center.

    Tap on the URL in the resulting "Open URL:" screen.

    You'll see a "loading..." for a few seconds, then "Error decoding stream", but KPIG will then start playing.

• Mac

  To setup on a Mac (running OS X):

  • FStream (free)
    • Download the free FStream player (I have version 1.4.9) from sourcemac.
    • Install it
    • Run it
    • Click on "File"
    • Click on "Quick Open"
    • Enter your "mms:" URL on the right (e.g., something like: mms://mapleton.securewmlive.internapcdn.net/live_secure_mapleton_vitalstream_com_KPIGFM2?token=6A7....)
      You can find your tailored URL by logging in to KPIG at www.kpig.com, going to the player window, and looking near the bottom.
      You might only see two (one starting with "http", one with "rttp") and not one with "mms:" ... just take the http one and change "http" to "mms:".

    If you want to add it to the list of saved stations:

    • Click on "File"
    • Click on "Stream Manager"
    • Click on "+"
    • Enter "KPIG" on the left
    • Enter your "mms:" URL on the right (e.g., something like: mms://mapleton.securewmlive.internapcdn.net/live_secure_mapleton_vitalstream_com_KPIGFM2?token=6A7....)
      You can find your tailored URL by logging in to KPIG at www.kpig.com, going to the player window, and looking near the bottom.
      You might only see two (one starting with "http", one with "rtsp") and not one with "mms:" ... just take the http one and change "http" to "mms:".

    If you added KPIG to the list of saved stations, actually using that to "tune into" KPIG is surprisingly unobvious.

    Look at the small oval "status" window (usually on lower left)
    On the right side of that oval should be two semi-circles.
    Left-click on the top semicircle to get a small menu that has three options, a horizontal line, and then a list of all of your saved stations ... including KPIG. Click on KPIG.

  • Radium

    The Radium app supports KPIG, too. (Free to try, possibly $9.99 to buy.)

    • Install Radium
    • Run Radium
    • Click on the tiny equalizer graphic in the upper right (three horizontal lines with a couple of dots on them).
    • Choose "Import Station from URL..."
    • Enter your "mms:" URL on the right (e.g., something like: mms://mapleton.securewmlive.internapcdn.net/live_secure_mapleton_vitalstream_com_KPIGFM2?token=6A7....)
      You can find your tailored URL by logging in to KPIG at www.kpig.com, going to the player window, and looking near the bottom.
      You might only see two (one starting with "http", one with "rtsp") and not one with "mms:" ... just take the http one and change "http" to "mms:".

  Neither FStream nor Radium seem to display the song name or artist name.
